Meeting with the Belgium Defense Attaché

On 08 May 2012 Andreja Bogdanovski and Sonja Zuber had an official meeting with the Belgium Defense Attaché Colonel Jean-Marie Ferber accredited for Macedonia.
The main topic of discussion was the recently published Almanac on Security Sector Reforms in the Western Balkans and the findings on the Macedonian Armed Forces.






On 08 May 2012 Andreja Bogdanovski and Sonja Zuber had an official meeting with the Belgium Defense Attaché Colonel Jean-Marie Ferber accredited for Macedonia.
The main topic of discussion was the recently published Almanac on Security Sector Reforms in the Western Balkans and the findings on the Macedonian Armed Forces. Andreja pointed out to the need for adopting new legal solution for Macedonia's involvement in peace support operations due to the lack of coherent approach in this area. Additionally he highlighted the importance for greater involvement of the Ombudsman in the work of the Armed Forces, mainly through promotion activities on its work and mandate.
Macedonia's NATO and EU integration was also part of the discussion, reflecting mainly on the prospects of Macedonia's NATO membership as well as country's commitment for engaging more actively in the smart defense concept. On his behalf Colonel Ferber gave a short overview of the smart defense concept for Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
