From 20 to 23 February Analytica’s Foreign and Security team participated in the first workshop of the “Security Transitions in the Western Balkans - From Conflict Zone to Security Community?” project. The project aims to address and answer the question, to what extent the Western Balkans can be considered as a Security Community. We are working on this project together with six other think tanks from the Western Balkans and the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI). The meeting in Budva served as a great chance to establish a basis for our future work. The meeting included introductory segment reflecting on the different concepts of Security Communities and what characteristics define them. Furthermore practice theory was introduced and discussed as the most suitable theory basis for this research. The next activity within this project is envisaged for the beginning of April when seven Researchers from the region will undergo short fellowship at NUPI and discuss in greater details the concept of the project.
