Conference: "Access to information and personal data protection - challenges and opportunities"

On 18th of November 2016 Analytica organized the conference "Access to information and personal data protection - challenges and opportunities" in Marriott Hotel, Skopje.

The event marked the start of the project "Transparent and efficient state regulatory and oversight bodies" within which our researchers will be focusing on the work of the Commission for Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information and Directorate for Personal Data Protection as state oversight and regulatory bodies. The main purpose of this project is enhanced public scrutiny through monitoring and publicising the work of these two bodies in order to contribute to improvement of their performance, effectiveness, transparency and accountability.

The opening remarks were given by the Deputy Ambassador of the UK in Macedonia Paul Edwards and our researcher Magdalena Lembovska. Representatives of the Commission for protection of the right to free access to public information, the Directorate for personal data protection, CSOs and the academia gave their contribution as panel speakers. Also, two experts from the UK provided presentations in the respective areas: Judith Rauhofer from the University of Edinburgh and Tony Bowden, mySociety London.
