Analytica’s Research Fellows Ana Stojilovska and Sonja Risteska attended on 18. May 2011 the Workshop “Low-cost solar cells 2011” organized by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies – Skopje and the Engineer’s Institution of Macedonia and supported by Central European Initiative and Austrian Development Cooperation. Analytica presented its two ongoing projects as part of the Energy and Infrastructure Programme and the EU Approximation and Integration Advocacy Programme - the Changing the habits – how to get an energy efficient municipality project and the Synergies for Energy Awareness Change project. Present at the workshop were university professors, PhD students, researchers, members of the national and local government, companies and civil society organizations. The participants concluded that Macedonia and the countries from the region have huge solar potential which is under-used, and therefore best practice examples from developed countries should be implemented. It was also highlighted that national energy policies should focus on a long term development of the investment climate for utilization of the renewable sources of energy by including research results of the experts in the field.
